AJC Launches NYU Society October 11, 2007 - New York - The American Jewish Committee last night launched its fifth university society at New York University. AJC University Societies engage young Jewish leaders on campus about AJC's domestic and international agenda, Israel, and American Jewish affairs. "Our university societies ensure the next generation of Jewish leaders are prepared for the global challenges, and opportunities, they will face," said AJC Executive Director David A. Harris. Like the AJC University Societies at Colgate, Cornell, Princeton, and Harvard, the NYU Society will participate in Israel education and advocacy training, as well as travel internationally to meet foreign and domestic diplomats, policymakers and other non-governmental leaders. At the NYU inaugural event, which brought out more than 100 people, Harris discussed his career in Jewish diplomacy, Iran's nuclear ambitions and the Jewish role in international affairs.
